Catalyst Washing
Engine operations expose catalysts to chemical compounds that affect an element’s surface and its active ingredients. These contaminants hinder the functionality of a catalyst and cause the catalyst to further degrade over time. Instead of replacing a catalyst prematurely, chemical washing is used to remove contaminants, regenerate the catalyst surface and restore catalytic activity and performance.
Although washing catalysts is a common practice, not all catalyst washing systems are alike. The most effective catalyst element cleaning method involves four steps, in a specific sequence, for specific periods of time. Each sequence is critical and is designed to remove specific contaminants.
Cypress Engine utilizes modern chemical processing equipment, methods and procedures. Our facilities use chemical recirculation pumps and a special manifold to continuously flush the solutions through the cells of the element for deep cleaning. This is an effective way to release contaminants from the catalyst, particularly from within the interior surfaces and catalyst pores. Additionally, to avoid cross-contamination, Cypress Engine uses fresh chemical solutions for each batch of catalysts.
